A clearer, better organised panel
A kitchen refit and plans for home charging prompted a closer look at the existing supply, the panel and its circuit records.

Project overview
Panel upgrade,
thought through.
Review the existing installation and plan space for additional equipment.
The supply assessment informed the new panel specification. Access, the circuit schedule and any utility work were agreed before the power interruption.
Illustrative case study. People, location, cost and timing are demonstration details.

Our process
Four steps through the project.
- 01
Record the installation
Identify the existing circuits and the equipment planned for the home.
- 02
Agree the upgrade
Specify the panel and arrange the power interruption with the owner.
- 03
Replace and test
Complete the work and check each circuit before restoring use.
- 04
Make it legible
Label the panel and walk through the records with the homeowner.

The problem
What needed to change
The owner was planning a kitchen refit and wanted to add a home charging point later. The old circuit labels were incomplete, and there was no useful record of what the existing panel could support. Choosing a larger panel from its appearance alone would not answer either question.

The solution
How the pieces came together
The assessment established the existing loads and the proposed additions. The installation plan then set out the panel specification, any supply coordination and the interruption to power. The handover brought the new circuit schedule and test information together in one folder.
A labelled circuit schedule and a written handover give the homeowner a practical record of the installation.
